Werder Bremen Bayern Munich prediction 2023-05-06

Werder Bremen vs Bayern Munich prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-05-05 16:30.
Werder Bremen have largely steered clear of the relegation zone in their first season back in the top-flight, but they missed out on setting up this game for mathematical safety by giving away a lead to lose 2-1 against relegation-threatened Schalke last weekend. Sitting seven points clear of the drop zone prior to the final four rounds, Bremen have likely already done enough, although a tricky run-in where they play three of the top five could see Bremen rue missed opportunities.

That run-in begins here, and a Weserstadion return is unlikely to help them secure safety as not only do they face league leaders Bayern Munich, but Werder are also the worst home side in the division (W5, D1, L9)! Even so, neutral fans may be encouraged to tune in as the River Islanders have seen a joint league-high 21 (70%) of their games at any venue witness both teams score, whilst 21 of their Bundesliga games have also produced at least three goals, another league high!

The most fiercely contested title race in Bundesliga history took yet another turn last weekend as Dortmund relinquished control of their Meisterschale fate by drawing against local rivals Bochum. Bayern didn’t waste the opportunity handed to them by coolly dispatching Hertha Berlin 2-0, although that game ended a four-game winless run for the Rekordmeister (W1, D2, L2), so there could be more twists and turns to come.

Bookending a rotten run of four defeats from Bayern’s last six competitive away games (W2, L4) is next on the agenda for Thomas Tuchel’s men. That shouldn’t be too difficult if history is any indicator considering Bayern’s current 12-game winning run of Bundesliga H2Hs here in Bremen, although conceding six times across their two most recent trips this season may serve to temper expectations.

Players to watch: Marvin Ducksch’s 12th Bundesliga goal of the season last weekend means Werder have two players on 12+ top-flight goals in one season for the first time since 2008/09, along with Niclas Füllkrug (G16). As for Bayern, Serge Gnabry became the only player to hit at least ten Bundesliga goals in each of the last seven seasons with his recent strike against Hertha.

Hot streak: Werder Bremen have conceded at least twice in each of their seven league games against top-five opponents (W1, L6).
