Montpellier Nice prediction 2023-05-27

Montpellier vs Nice prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-05-26 19:00.
‘Dead rubber’ would perhaps be the best way to describe a clash between mid-table Montpellier and Nice, with neither side at liberty to threaten the upper echelons of the Ligue 1 table despite their safety being assured. Still, Montpellier will want to end their home league campaign on a high, and having tasted defeat in just one of their last seven (W4, D2) run-outs at Stade de la Mosson, they ought to be confident of doing so.

Home games against Nice have been equally as fruitful for Montpellier, who have won four of the last five H2Hs they’ve hosted (D1). Having already bettered their points tally of last season, Montpellier can say they’ve made strides towards improvement, and could yet showcase that by securing a top-half finish, though that would need a string of favourable results elsewhere.

Nice are one of those top-half sides who Montpellier could yet catch, despite the five-point cushion they hold. It’s easy to see why you could make an argument for Nice being caught on the back of just two wins from their last 11 league outings (D5, L4), but considering they’ve collected more points away (27) than at home (25) this season, there’s an argument to be had that hosting Nice is a tougher task than it may seem.

Perhaps Nice’s strong travelling nature is waning though, as they’ve actually lost two of their last three away league games without reply, both of which were against sides lower in the table than Montpellier. Yet after winning the reverse fixture 6-1 back in January, Nice might feel they hold some sort of psychological edge as they seek a first away H2H win since 2016.

Players to watch: Montpellier’s last five Ligue 1 goals have all been scored by different players, but three were assisted by Joris Chotard. Formerly of Montpellier, Nice’s GaĂ«tan Laborde has seen seven of his last eight league strikes arrive before the hour mark.

Hot streak: Montpellier have scored in 14 successive league matches.
