Huddersfield Leicester prediction 2023-08-12

Huddersfield vs Leicester prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-08-11 14:00.
In this battle of teams who experienced contrasting results after conceding first on the opening weekend, Huddersfield will kick off under greater pressure. Facing a favourite for the Championship title right after being thumped 3-1 by newly-promoted Plymouth is a bleak situation, but with the Terriers unbeaten in six home league games going back to March (W3, D3), they’ll be confident of frustrating Leicester with the crowd behind them.

All three victories in that sequence saw Huddersfield score exclusively in the second half, so getting off to a better start could be at the forefront of Neil Warnock’s thinking here. That rings especially true on home soil, as the Terriers lost four times from the six occasions they were trailing a league game at the John Smith’s Stadium at half-time last season (W1, D1).

However, visitors Leicester showed their own ability to strike late last weekend, when a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall double gave the Foxes maximum points over Coventry. Now, they will be looking to do as 2022/23 Championship winners Burnley did, and beat Huddersfield in their first away league assignment following a top-flight relegation.

The Foxes certainly seem capable of a Burnley-style rebound with triple-figure points – as was memorably the case in their own promotion of 2013/14. And the visitors’ own ability to surge late was evident during last season’s travels too, as despite being relegated, Leicester boasted the joint third-best record in away games after the break, winning the second half on eight occasions (2H: D4, L7).

Key battle: Michał Helik equalised for Huddersfield in their false start to 2023/24 – the third goal across his last four to be second overall on the day. But as a defender, he’ll mainly have his hands full with rumoured Liverpool target Dewsbury-Hall, whose star turn last Sunday ensured that three of his four most recent goalscoring games have ended 2-1 to the home side on the day.

Hot streak: Huddersfield have scored during the second half’s opening quarter-hour in each of their previous five home league wins.
