Twente Zwolle prediction 2023-08-20

Twente vs Zwolle prediction: NETHERLANDS: Eredivisie betting tips on match 2023-08-19 12:30.
Most Eredivisie clubs will be partaking in their second competitive match of 2023/24 this season, but for FC Twente it’ll be their sixth! Joseph Oosting’s side have already progressed through two qualifying rounds of the UEFA Europa Conference League and won their first league game against Almere City by a 4-1 margin. This weekend, they’ve got the other newcomer of the season: PEC Zwolle.

Sem Steijn and Michel Vlap, who have both had an excellent start to the new season, had to miss last Thursday’s game against Riga, but Twente’s squad have demonstrated that no player this season is indispensable. Youngsters Gijs Besselink and Naci Ünüvar proved just as much when coming off the bench to register their first official goals for the club.

After their successful year in the Netherlands’ second tier, Zwolle sold three playmakers to Eredivisie competitors. Thomas van den Belt and Thomas Beelen made the switch to Feyenoord and Younes Taha in turn left for this weekend's opponent. Taha found the net 14 times for PEC Zwolle last season and immediately carried that form into his new role, producing his first assist for Twente on Thursday evening.

Zwolle’s first round was one to forget once again, for 2023/24 was the sixth consecutive time they lost their first match of a new Eredivisie season. Within 15 minutes, the Zwollenaren were already behind against Sparta owing to an own goal by Sam Kersten. That same player made amends for it later with an equaliser, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a 2-1 defeat. It doesn’t bode well in their pursuit of becoming the first visitor in 20 Twente home Eredivisie games to deny them a goal or a league point.

Players to watch: Daan Rots has contributed to a goal in each of his last three appearances (G2, A1), whilst Lennart Thy has also been successful by scoring a total of four times in his last three official games.

Hot stat: FC Twente won 79% of their 14 league games as home favourites last season (W11, D3).
