Millwall Stoke prediction 2023-08-26

Millwall vs Stoke prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-08-25 14:00.
Millwall come into this game looking to improve on both an underwhelming start to their Championship season (W1, L2) and their poor home league form, which has seen them emerge victorious in only four of their last 15 matches at The Den (D6, L5). Lapses in concentration are perhaps behind that faltering run, and Gary Rowett’s side must focus until the final whistle after they conceded in the fifth minute of injury time against Bristol City in their home league opener.

With eight goals conceded across their last three matches, tightening up at the back will be important for the hosts, but given they’re also struggling in front of goal with only Middlesbrough having scored fewer in the Championship, Rowett seemingly has his work cut out to turn around their fortunes. The visit of Stoke City could perhaps be timely then, as Millwall have enjoyed plenty of H2H success of late (W5, D3, L1).

A reasonably positive start to the season left Stoke in eighth place after three rounds of Championship action. They failed to score in a 2-0 defeat against Ipswich in their last away league outing, and there’s no guarantee their fortunes will change here in South London given they’ve drawn a scoring blank in four of their last five visits to The Den.

Boss Alex Neil will hope his summer signing spree, which includes the additions of striker Mehdi Leris and winger Nikola Jojic this week, will further bolster their attacking options which have yielded five league goals so far. They’re perhaps timely additions too as they attempt to get the better of their former boss for only the second time since he was sacked as Stoke manager in January 2019.

Players to watch: New signing Aidomo Emakhu has played a part (G1, A1) in both of Millwall’s goals this season. André Vidigal is proving to be influential to Stoke’s success this season, as he’s netted what’s proved to be the winning goal in each three of their victories this term.

Hot stat: Referee David Webb has awarded more cards to the away team than the home team in his three officiated Championship games this season.
