Everton Wolves prediction 2023-08-26

Everton vs Wolves prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2023-08-25 14:00.
Despite the 1-0 defeat, a dominant display in Everton’s Premier League (PL) opener at Goodison Park two weeks ago against Fulham left locals confident their side would avoid another nail-biting relegation battle this season. However, they were given a harsh reality check last Sunday when beaten 4-0 away at Aston Villa, meaning the Toffees could now potentially lose their opening three league games for the first time since 1990/91.

They’ve never lost their first trio of league matches without scoring, however it’s tough to see where the goals are going to come from for Sean Dyche’s side who netted the second-lowest tally in the division last season (34). Their attacking endeavours weren’t helped by the fractured cheekbone sustained by returning forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin last week, and with goals at a premium for so long, it shouldn’t come as a shock to note they have won just one of their last 25 PL games when they’ve conceded at least once (D6, L18).

If there’s one side that can relate to the Toffees’ attacking woes, then it’s opponents Wolves. They were the only side to score fewer PL goals than Everton last season (31). Their sole strike so far this season proved a consolation goal in a heavy home defeat to Brighton last week (4-1) and now they need to pull a result out of the bag if they’re to avoid three defeats to start the season for the second time in their last three PL campaigns.

Wolves’ away form has been on a downward spiral for some time, evidenced by the fact they have suffered defeat in each of their last five PL road trips. But Gary O’Neil’s men have enjoyed their recent trips to the blue half of Merseyside, winning each of their last two matches here and they could now secure a third straight away H2H success for the first time in their history.

Key battle: After bringing down Ollie Watkins last week, no goalkeeper has given away more penalties in the PL than Jordan Pickford (five) since his Everton debut in 2017. That will put Wolves attacker Hwang Hee-chan on high alert and he’s scored each of his side’s last two PL goals, including one past Pickford in May.

Hot stat: Despite their lack of goals, after the opening two PL rounds, only Brighton attempted more shots than Wolves (39).
