B. Monchengladbach Bayer Leverkusen prediction 2023-08-26

B. Monchengladbach vs Bayer Leverkusen prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-08-25 16:30.
Although Borussia Mönchengladbach played their part in the only draw of the opening Bundesliga round, it was by no means a drab affair as their 4-4 thriller against Augsburg equalled the record for the highest scoring opening day Bundesliga game! It was always going to take time for this new look squad to gel, but there was little excuse from manager Gerardo Seoane for dropping 2-0 and 3-1 leads, who explained to the media that “if you concede four away goals, you can't be happy as a coach.”

A Borussia-Park return could yield further progress for the Foals given they have lost just once across their last eight home league games (W4, D3, L1). However, that positive run began after a 3-2 home defeat to none other than Rhineland rivals Bayer Leverkusen. To further dent Gladbach’s hopes, their upcoming opponents now boast one of the Foals’ top midfield talents of years gone by, Jonas Hofmann, who they signed this summer for €10m.

Much like their hosts, Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen also held 2-0 and 3-1 leads on the opening day, although they held out for a very impressive 3-2 win over DFB-Pokal and German Super Cup holders RB Leipzig. Just days after Alonso signed a contract extension through to 2026, it was an eye-catching on-field statement of intent from the Eternal Bridesmaids, who are looking to rise above their “Neverkusen'' tag by picking up some silverware this season with the likes of Granit Xhaka and Victor Boniface also settling in quickly.

Next on the agenda in that regard is to end a rotten four-game winless run of away league outings (D3, L1), three of which saw Leverkusen fail to score. This seems like the perfect place to realise that ambition as Alonso’s men are enjoying their longest active winning run of competitive away H2Hs (W5) against Gladbach amongst all current Bundesliga sides.

Players to watch: Tomás Cvancara helped the Gladbach fans get over their summer departures by becoming just the second player in club history to score twice on Bundesliga debut. Whilst Leverkusen’s new signings certainly impressed, only 20-year-old academy product Florian Wirtz has scored in both of their competitive fixtures this season.

Hot streak: Each of Leverkusen’s last four competitive matches have featured at least two first-half goals.
