Atalanta Monza prediction 2023-09-02

Atalanta vs Monza prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2023-09-01 18:45.
Many had debated who the first team would be to allow Frosinone their first win upon their return to Serie A (SA), and it turned out that side was Atalanta, as they fell to a 2-1 defeat last weekend. Cutting a disgruntled figure in the wake of that loss, manager Gian Piero Gasperini insists “talk is of little use” to his side, as he urges them to act on the pitch, where they have had a mixed start to their SA campaign (W1, L1).

Such a start would indicate you never quite know what to expect from Atalanta, and that’s been a theme they’ve continued on from last season too, with a perfectly split record across their last eight SA outings (W4, L4). In that run was a 5-2 victory against Monza which closed out their last campaign, part of a run of six wins from seven meetings in what is a shallow H2H history between the two sides (L1).

Monza’s start to the SA season mirrors that of Atalanta, yet their sole defeat wasn’t quite as humbling as they were beaten 2-0 by Italian powerhouses Inter Milan on opening weekend. They’ve since avenged that result with a win against Empoli by the same 2-0 scoreline, and coach Raffaele Palladino praised what he called a “great game” from his side, who are now searching to avoid a third straight SA away defeat for the first time in 2023.

They’re going to run into a slight problem in that sense, as they’ve lost all three away H2Hs, conceding a whopping ten goals in the process. Slow starts have largely been behind that plight, with Monza trailing by at least two goals at the break in all three of those games. But with a respectable 11 first half clean sheets from their last 20 SA away games, perhaps that run will end here.

Players to watch: AC Milan loanee Charles De Ketelaere has already opened his Atalanta account for the season and each of his last six club goals have arrived after half-time. Andrea Colpani’s double secured Monza’s win last weekend, and having risen through ranks at Atalanta, he will be out to down his former club here.

Hot stat: Monza have scored after half-time in seven of their last eight SA away matches.
