Eintracht Frankfurt FC Koln prediction 2023-09-03

Eintracht Frankfurt vs FC Koln prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-09-02 13:30.
It has been a strong start to the competitive campaign for Eintracht Frankfurt (W3, D2), who managed to scrape a 1-1 league draw away to Mainz last weekend between crucial UEFA Europa Conference League matches against Levski Sofia. Even with a European group stage secured thanks to their second leg victory, it was the transfer saga surrounding striker Randal Kolo Muani that dominated headlines throughout the week.

Whilst he may be relieved for the drama to come to an end, Frankfurt boss Dino Toppmöller declared the club “bigger than one player” and insisted their focus has not shifted away from extending their imperious domestic home form which stretches back to the end of 2022 (W9, D4). It may be a little soon to start thinking about going an entire calendar year unbeaten in home league action, but just one home H2H defeat across the last decade should inspire confidence of moving one step closer to that feat here (W5, D2, L1).

Trying to put a dampener on that record are Cologne, who will hope to use their lack of European involvement to get one over their potentially tired opponents here and register their first points of the season (L2). The Billy Goats have finished no higher than 14th in their last two campaigns which also saw them open with a pair of defeats. Ominously, the last time they began a season with three losses in 2020/21, they needed to conquer a relegation play-off to stay afloat.

Granted, Steffen Baumgart’s men have had a rather tough start against Wolfsburg and Dortmund, yet they may hope for better here after going unbeaten in four of their last five Bundesliga road trips (W3, D1). That’s not to mention that Cologne have one of the strongest unbeaten rates (59%) of any side as Bundesliga pre-match outsiders since the beginning of last season (W5, D8, L9).

Players to watch: Omar Marmoush has impressed since making the switch to Frankfurt from Wolfsburg, with his two goals in three domestic appearances serving to extend his unbeaten scoring run to 18 games (W12, D6). He will meet former teammate Luca Waldschmidt, who also left Wolfsburg in the summer for Cologne, although his first goal for the club came in a 2-1 defeat, meaning he’s lost on three of his last eight scoring appearances.

Hot streak: None of Frankfurt’s last 11 league games produced a goalless first-half.
