Cardiff vs Coventry prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-09-18 18:45.
Cardiff City will be hoping their rousing 2-0 south Wales derby win over Swansea, their first in five H2Hs, can provide the momentum boost their season needed. Manager Erol Bulut was “proud” of his team’s efforts in a feverish atmosphere in the capital, and he’ll be hoping the fans can help the Bluebirds to a third consecutive Championship home victory, a feat they’ve not managed since February 2022.

Cardiff have been a team for the neutrals so far this season, with only Southampton also having scored and conceded at least ten goals in league action. They’ll certainly hope more entertainment is on offer against a Coventry City side they failed to score against last season (D1, L1), although the Bluebirds have a very strong H2H record to fall back on prior to the previous campaign’s exploits (W9, D2, L2).

Despite the loss of star duo Viktor Gyökeres and Gustavo Hamer this summer, Mark Robins has still managed to keep his Coventry side very competitive. Stalemates have been the order of the day for the Sky Blues, who’ve drawn four of their first six Championship matches (W1, L1), the latest of which came against Hull and left Robins disappointed that his side “ran out of steam” as they conceded an 87th minute goal to drop two points.

That’s become a familiar tale for Coventry this season, who’ve scored first in four of their first six league games. A difficult away assignment is unlikely to faze Robins’ men though, as they’ve lost just one of their last 13 league matches on the road (W5, D7), while they’ve been beaten just six times in the Championship at any venue in 2023 (W11, D14).

Players to watch: Aaron Ramsey netted from the spot to seal victory over Swansea, meaning he’s now scored in back-to-back Championship matches for the first time in his career. Matt Godden, meanwhile, is Coventry’s top scorer this season with four goals in all competitions – he’s the only Sky Blue to net more than once this season.

Hot stat: Coventry have scored in each of their last eight away games across all competitions.
