Crystal Palace Fulham prediction 2023-09-23

Crystal Palace vs Fulham prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2023-09-22 14:00.
Although it’s been an inconsistent start to their Premier League (PL) campaign (W2, D1, L2), Crystal Palace will be happy to start the weekend in the top-half of the table even in the wake of their 3-1 loss to Aston Villa last time out. Manager Roy Hodgson was missing from the sidelines at Villa Park due to the illness as his side conceded three times beyond the 86th minute, but will be back in the dugout when the Eagles welcome his old side Fulham to Selhurst Park.

The 76-year old veteran has been a revelation since embarking on a second stint at the club, losing only three of his 16 games since taking charge in April (W8, D4). The home faithful will be hoping his undefeated top-flight record when managing against Fulham remains intact (W3, D4), especially after the disastrous hosting of their London rivals last season saw them lose 3-0 and have two men sent off under Patrick Vieira’s stewardship.

Speaking of poor records against London rivals, that win at Selhurst Park last season is Fulham’s only away win in a London Derby in 20 attempts (D5, L14), affording them a chance at successive away wins against Palace for first time since 1978. Achieving that feat would see the visitors leapfrog their hosts in the table, whom they trail only on goal difference.

The Cottagers would also equal their best-ever PL points tally after six matches with a victory here, but would have to arguably put together a performance substantially better than the one they produced to squeak past Luton 1-0 last time out. Most of Fulham’s fortunes have come from solid defensive performances though, since they’ve only managed to score more than a single goal once in their last seven matches.

Players to watch: Odsonne Édouard has been Palace’s most productive attacking player with five goals this season. Often needing to grow into the game, all his strikes have come after half-time. Meanwhile, Fulham’s Carlos Vinícius opened his 2023/24 account with the winner against Luton, with that goal meaning he has scored his side’s opener in three of his last four goalscoring outings.

Hot stat: Palace have only suffered defeat to Arsenal and Manchester City in their last 12 home PL matches (W4, D6).
