Dortmund Wolfsburg prediction 2023-09-23

Dortmund vs Wolfsburg prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-09-22 13:30.
Despite their unbeaten start to the Bundesliga season (W2, D2), Borussia Dortmund and head coach Edin Terzić find themselves under pressure in the early stages of the season. An underwhelming set of performances in the league were followed by a comprehensive 2-0 loss at Paris Saint-Germain in midweek UEFA Champions League action, with Dortmund managing just one shot on target and 35% possession.

That left Terzić lamenting that his side “weren’t brave enough”, but perhaps some of the blame can be laid at his door after he switched to five at the back for the trip to Paris. He’ll likely need more firepower if BVB are to get back to winning ways, something they’ll certainly be confident of doing in front of their home fans as Dortmund are unbeaten in over a year at Signal Iduna Park (W16, D5).

That sequence includes a thumping 6-0 win over upcoming visitors Wolfsburg, who haven’t won an away H2H in the league since December 2012 (D2, L8). The Wolves have conceded exactly six goals in both of their last two trips to Dortmund, so boss Niko Kovač will be hoping his side can replicate the performance from their 2-1 win over Union Berlin that left the Croatian “happy” to win a “tight” game.

That was Wolfsburg’s third victory from four Bundesliga matches this term, a run that leaves one point better off than their illustrious hosts ahead of kick-off. Maintaining that gap looks tricky though as they’ve lost four of their last six league road trips (W2), scoring just once across those four defeats. Finding the back of the net more frequently could be key to retaking their place in European competition next year, as no side in the top eight have scored fewer than the Wolves’ seven goals ahead of this round.

Players to watch: Fresh from his brace against Freiburg last weekend, Dortmund veteran Mats Hummels faces one of his favourite opponents here, boasting a joint career-best 17 H2H victories (D5, L5). Looking to spoil his party, Danish dynamo Jonas Wind has been in destructive form for Wolfsburg this season, scoring five and assisting another in their four league matches.

Hot streak: Dortmund have won each of their last five home league H2Hs by at least a two-goal margin.
