Real Sociedad Getafe prediction 2023-09-24

Real Sociedad vs Getafe prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-09-23 12:00.
After their first Champions League match in nearly a decade ended in a 1-1 draw against Inter Milan, it’s back to La Liga (LL) matters for Real Sociedad. That stalemate followed a familiar pattern for Imanol Alguacil’s men, as it was the fourth time in six matches this season to end level, while it was the third time they’ve opened the scoring in those four draws. All of those came at home, but the Inter result would’ve been particularly disappointing given that the Italian side scored with their only shot on target.

Sociedad were also beaten at Real Madrid last weekend, so will be particularly keen to put things right here against another capital club in Getafe. Alguacil’s side should feel confident however, as they’re unbeaten in each of the last three H2Hs they’ve hosted (W2, D1), keeping a clean sheet in each of those matches, while they haven’t tasted defeat against any opposition at the Reale Arena since February (W7, D7).

Getafe are two places and a point better off than their opponents heading into Sunday afternoon’s clash, despite only finishing two points clear of the relegation zone last season. That said, they will need to start finding the back of the net more frequently as only three LL sides – Mallorca, Celta Vigo and Las Palmas – have scored fewer than them so far this term. Three of those five Azulones goals came in their dramatic 3-2 victory over Osasuna last weekend – the first time they had netted that many since March.

They can draw inspiration from the fact that they have won seven of their last 13 meetings with Real Sociedad (D2, L4), but Getafe are already walking a disciplinary tight-rope, with Domingos Duarte, Stefan Mitrović, Juanmi Latasa and captain Djené all on three bookings in 2023/24, putting the quartet just two yellows away from a one-match ban.

Key battle: Only Robert Lewandowski and Jude Bellingham have been involved in more LL goals this season than Takefusa Kubo (G3, A1), with the Japanese attacker wrapping up a 2-0 win in last season’s corresponding fixture against Getafe. For the visitors, Diego Rico will be highly motivated to impress against his parent club and produced a sumptuous cross to set up his new side’s second against Osasuna.

Hot stat: Getafe have lost four of their last five away matches in which they’ve scored the opening goal.
