QPR Coventry prediction 2023-09-30

QPR vs Coventry prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-09-29 14:00.
For just the second time since returning to the Championship in 2015/16, Queens Park Rangers have won only two of their first eight matches of a new season (D2, L4). A 0-0 draw at Birmingham forms part of that miserable run, with the R’s picking up just two points from their last three games to leave them just three points clear of the drop zone ahead of this round.

Head coach Gareth Ainsworth remains optimistic despite QPR being amongst the leading favourites for relegation to League One, telling reporters he was “proud of the cohesion of the players” and hailing “a point away from home is always a good point”. But QPR certainly owe more to their home fans, who have been able to celebrate just one victory from their last 18 Championship games at Loftus Road (D4, L13).

Coventry City are on the quick back-up after hosting a Huddersfield Town side that was debuting a new manager on Monday evening, conceding a stoppage time equaliser to draw 1-1 with their fellow bottom-half strugglers despite leading for more than an hour. A “frustrated” head coach Mark Robins noted their inability to finish off games, with goals conceded after the 85th minute costing them wins over Huddersfield and Hull as well as an opening draw against Leicester.

Only goal difference separates the Sky Blues from QPR heading into this clash, but extending that gap may need Robins’ men to rekindle last season’s away form. Coventry stormed into the Championship play-offs last season by taking points home from each of their last nine road trips (W4, D5), but have since followed it up with a four-game winless start to their away campaign (D2, L2).

Players to watch: If there is anywhere QPR forward Lyndon Dykes will regain goalscoring form, it will be at home, where all but one of his last 13 competitive goals for QPR were registered. On the other hand, Matt Godden has found the net in two of Coventry’s last three Championship away games.

Hot stat: All but one of the last nine H2Hs were won by the pre-match favourite.
