Darmstadt Werder Bremen prediction 2023-10-01

Darmstadt vs Werder Bremen prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-09-30 13:30.
It was yet another fruitless week of Bundesliga action for Darmstadt in round five, as they failed to hold a lead in a chastening 3-1 defeat against high-flying Stuttgart. The league’s new boys remain with just one point on the board (D1, L4), and with no side conceding more than their 16 goals ahead of this round, it’s Darmstadt’s worst defensive record after five games of a league season since they were in the third tier back in 1996/97!

Of course, blowing a 3-0 half-time lead to draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach in their last home game did little to help that cause, although they may see this particular game as an opportunity to finally get their first three points. Both Darmstadt and Werder Bremen competed in the 2. Bundesliga together as recently as 2021/22, and the Lilies won the home H2H 3-0 on the way to finishing just three points shy of their promoted visitors.

Ole Werner’s Bremen certainly won’t be pushovers as they showed last weekend when coming from behind to defeat Cologne 2-1. Werner also holds a rock-solid personal record against Darmstadt (W3, D1, L1), but with a 100% losing record in competitive away games this season (L3), improving on his record against their opponents here may be a big ask.

The most recent of those away defeats came at the home of the other promoted side, Heidenheim. That reverse forms part of a poor five-game losing streak in away Bundesliga matches – their worst such run of top-flight away defeats in the 21st century and one which ominously began with a 2-1 defeat against one of last season’s promoted sides in Schalke.

Players to watch: Marvin Mehlem has bagged a third of Darmstadt’s league goals this season (G2), both of which came at home and served to put his side ahead or equalise. He will have a job on his hands trying to outdo Bremen’s Marvin Ducksch, the influential forward who has directly contributed to a goal in four of his side’s six competitive matches this season (G3, A1).

Hot stat: All six of Darmstadt’s Bundesliga goals came before half-time, with five coming within the opening 30 minutes of games.
