Udinese Genoa prediction 2023-10-01

Udinese vs Genoa prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2023-09-30 13:00.
On the end of a 4-1 reverse against Napoli in midweek, things are looking bleak for a Udinese side still winless in Serie A (SA) this season (D3, L3). Boss Andrea Sottil claims their midweek game has already been “archived” as he looks ahead to the visit of Genoa, a side for whom he spent a season of his playing career.

There’ll be no sentiment here with Udinese desperate to get that first league win on the board, and given they’re unbeaten in 12 SA H2Hs (W6, D6), it would be fair to say they should have belief it could arrive here. Five of those wins arrived ‘to nil’, and a clean sheet again probably holds the key to success for Udinese, who have scored just two SA goals this term – the league’s joint-second lowest tally ahead of the round.

Genoa had no such scoring troubles in midweek, as they cruised to a 4-1 victory over Roma. Boss Alberto Gilardino labelled it a “super performance”, but following up their “heroic” effort here may not be as straightforward as those midweek results would suggest, as you’d have to go back to early 2021 for the last time Genoa won back-to-back SA matches.

If Genoa’s recent record in Sunday-held SA games is anything to go by, then their wait for successive top-flight wins will roll on, with just two wins from their last 15 such games (D7, L6). Those matches haven’t been a particularly great source of entertainment either as only three of them saw more than two total goals scored, while Genoa failed to score at all in eight of them!

Players to watch: Lazar SamardĆŸić has grabbed both of Udinese’s SA goals this term, both of which arrived in the second half. Contrastingly, Albert GuĂ°mundsson scored after just four minutes and 20 seconds against Roma – Genoa’s fastest SA goal since December 2017!

Hot streak: Udinese have failed to score in five successive SA home games.
