Alaves Osasuna prediction 2023-10-01

Alaves vs Osasuna prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-09-30 14:15.
Alavés and Osasuna have identical La Liga (LL) match records this term (W2, D1, L4), but the former might be happier having earned promotion last season and after recently holding Celta Vigo to a 1-1 draw away from home. They recovered from conceding an embarrassing first-half own goal in that one and have now not made a better seven-game start to a top-flight league campaign since 2018/19.

Manager Luis García was actually disappointed that his side didn’t win as he felt they were “much superior”, actually preventing Celta from registering a shot on target all game. If they pick up from where they left off, the first half could see some action as each of their last three home league games all featured scoring within the first 20 minutes, although it might be at the wrong end for the hosts as they’ve lost the last four H2Hs here ‘to nil’!

That might offer Osasuna some encouragement as they’ve now made their worst seven-game start to a LL campaign since returning to the top-flight in 2019/20. However, they’re unbeaten across the last seven H2Hs (W6, D1) and manager Jagoba Arrasate has never lost to García (W2, D1), suggesting they could be primed to break a run of five winless competitive games (D2, L3).

Thursday’s 2-0 defeat to AtlĂ©tico Madrid was one for Arrasate to forget as he was sent off for protesting a disallowed goal which would have made the score 1-1. “It's a very clear goal, I told the referee and he sent me off,” explained the coach, who has at least seen his side make more of their chances away from home, scoring twice in each of their last three LL road games (W2, L1).

Players to watch: Samu marked his first LL start for AlavĂ©s by equalising against Celta, and both of his league goals this term arrived between the 60th and 75th minute. Often dangerous a little earlier, Osasuna’s Ante Budimir’s last six competitive strikes came between half-time and the 60th minute.

Hot stat: Osasuna’s LL games this term have seen five men dismissed from the field of play (average: 0.71 per game).
