Manuel Pellegrini has warned his Real Betis players that he will continue to rotate the starting line-up in order to handle their busy schedule. A busy current period that will see them play seven games in just 23 days is stretching the squad to the limit, with the boss admitting “we are going to need all the players” as he attempts to manage the workload and avoid burnout with a European clash on the horizon on Thursday.

However, that disruption looks to be having an adverse impact on the team's performances with Thursday’s 1-1 draw at Granada a fourth fixture without a victory across all competitions (D2, L2). The Green and Whites might not be too hopeful of a return to form on home soil either, given they have picked up only five victories in their 17 La Liga (LL) outings there (D7, L5) since mid-October 2022.

That form could be a confidence boost to visiting Valencia, who usually dread a trip to Benito Villamarín, where they have picked up just two victories in their last 13 visits (D4, L7). That, coupled with Los Che’s run of three defeats from their five matches since the end of August (W1, D1) means those supporters brave enough to make the unenviable 1200 km+ round trip may well be fearing the worst.

The most recent of those losses was a frustrating reversal at home to Real Sociedad, when Rubén Baraja’s side had nearly five times as many shots as their opponents, but still somehow came out on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline. Even still, the manager was pleased with how his side competed, stating that “at no time” were their opponents the “better” team.

Key battle: Ayoze Perez, one of the few players yet to miss a league game for Real Betis this season, has helped his side to victory in 20 of the last 24 games in which he has scored (D3, L1). He may be looking to extend that record against Valencia defender José Gayà, who has only kept one clean sheet in his last nine H2Hs (W3, D2, L4).

Hot stat: Valencia have lost each of the three league games in which they have conceded first this season.
