Le Havre vs Lille prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-09-30 13:00.
Le Havre continue to enjoy their first Ligue 1 campaign since the 2008/09 season and go into this weekend’s clash against Lille at the Stade Océane targeting their third win from their last four league matches. A 2-1 win against Clermont last weekend means they head into this round of fixtures just outside the European places and in with a chance of recording their first back-to-back victories in the French top flight since early 2003.
Key to the Sky-and-Navy’s strong recent form has been their defensive improvement which, after conceding six goals in their first three games of the season, has seen them leak only one goal across their last three. Manager Luka Elsner will be particularly keen to see his team replicate their start from last Sunday when they found themselves 2-0 up after only seven minutes, especially as no Le Havre match this season has seen any side come from behind to win!
Lille were on the receiving end of a quick start in their last Ligue 1 game and were 2-0 down after 17 minutes at home to Reims on Tuesday, a match they went on to lose 2-1 as they suffered their first home league defeat since August 2022 (W14, D4). That home form was in stark contrast to their away form as the Mastiffs travel to Le Havre with no victory from their last eight league road trips (D5, L3).
Maybe this relatively short trip to this part of Normandy can bring about a change in fortune as Lille haven’t lost to Le Havre since February 1996 (W3, D3 since), winning the last three! That said, this is the first league clash between the sides since 2009, so it’s hard to gauge based on past meetings, but a win for Lille would see them leapfrog their opponents.
Players to watch: With four goals from his last four league games, only Mostafa Mohamed and Kylian MbappĂ© have scored more league goals than Nabil Alioui so far this season – Le Havre haven’t lost in his last 17 goalscoring appearances (W14, D3). Defender BafodĂ© DiakitĂ© has scored in two of Lille’s last three away league matches, with both of his goals coming in the second half of games.
Hot stat: Lille have kept only two clean sheets across their last 13 away league matches.
