Las Palmas Celta Vigo prediction 2023-10-02

Las Palmas vs Celta Vigo prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-10-01 19:00.
It has been a tough return to top-flight football for Las Palmas who, after winning promotion from the Segunda División last season, have won only one of their opening seven matches (D2, L4) after a 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid in midweek. On a more positive note, they are still unbeaten at the Estadio Gran Canaria this campaign (W1, D2) and got their first victory thanks to a 92nd minute strike in a 1-0 win against Granada last Sunday, despite playing over a third of the game with ten men.

García Pimienta’s side have struggled in front of goal all season, finding the back of the net only twice, and even one of those was a penalty in their opening fixture against Mallorca! Unsurprisingly, they are the lowest scorers in La Liga (LL), but despite the fact they come into this round of fixtures in 18th place, only Atlético Madrid have conceded fewer than Los Amarillos this term (GA: 6).

Making the trip from the mainland to Gran Canaria, Celta Vigo travel over with the same number of points and an identical WDL record so far! Unlike Las Palmas, the Sky Blues have been at their best away from home, picking up four points from three games, although it should’ve been seven after they plundered a 2-0 lead away at Barcelona last Saturday, conceding three goals in the final ten minutes to lose 3-2.

Coach Rafa Benitez was at least able to pick up his players ahead of Thursday’s 1-1 home draw with Alaves, although it is now two games in a row where they have scored the opening goal but not been able to hold onto the lead. Whether they face similar troubles here or not remains to be seen, but with the last ten H2H meetings between these two sides seeing both teams score, whoever opens the scoring certainly shouldn’t rest easy.

Key battle: Las Palmas goalkeeper Álvaro Valles has kept clean sheets in each of his last two LL home games and has conceded only one goal at the Estadio Gran Canaria all season. Celta's Jørgen Strand Larsen has found the back of the net in the last two away games with both goals coming in the first half.

Hot stat: There have been no more than two total goals across all seven of Las Palmas’ league games this season.
