Ipswich Hull prediction 2023-10-03

Ipswich vs Hull prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-10-02 18:45.
A first goal since 2019 for Brandon Williams three minutes from the end of regular time on Saturday helped Ipswich Town hold Huddersfield Town to a 1-1 draw. Manager Kieran McKenna urged his side “to stay humble and keep learning” after a result that halted a six-game winning run for the Tractor Boys in all competitions. Their ascent to the top of the table also proved to be temporary, after Leicester City won on Sunday to open up a two-point gap as leaders.

The Suffolk outfit now have a chance to create club history as after beating Hull City in February 2021, they could now post consecutive H2H wins for the first time since October 1959. The Portman Road faithful will probably have been surprised to see their side start life back in the second tier in such fine form, but they’ve been spoilt at home in recent times, with Ipswich winning 13 of their last 14 competitive home games (L1), nearly averaging three-and-a-half goals scored per match in the process (G48).

Hull are also in need of a victory to further their own ambitions, with their 1-1 draw against Plymouth Argyle keeping them in the top six by extending their unbeaten run (W4, D4). Head coach Liam Rosenior felt “frustrated not to win the game”, especially with the early-season play-off race proving to be a tight multi-club battle, with three points separating fourth place to tenth after nine matches.

The Tigers will nevertheless travel confidently having won their last three away league games, last winning four on the trot in December 2012 with current boss Rosenior doing his bit as a player back then. Having won their last six away league H2Hs, a visit to Ipswich might not be the worst thing as they seek to continue their strong recent form on the road.

Players to watch: Freddie Ladapo may fancy a shot at glory here, as the Ipswich forward saw his two league goals of the season come at this venue in a 3-2 win against Cardiff City in the first match of September. Having scored in consecutive league games, Regan Slater is looking to make it three consecutive scoring games for the first time in his Hull career.

Hot stat: There have already been 14 goals scored in the opening 30 minutes of Ipswich home games this season.
