Reims Monaco prediction 2023-10-07

Reims vs Monaco prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-10-06 19:00.
Ligue 1’s Saturday action will be rounded off by a meeting of two early-season high flyers when Reims welcome Monaco to the Stade Auguste-Delaune. A sign of just how well Will Still’s men have started the season was the routine manner in which they dispatched crisis club Lyon last round (W 2-0), a result that took them to within a point of the top of the table at the end of the last round – a position that was occupied by their next opponents at that time!

Considering the illustrious history of their opponents, Reims boast a fairly respectable H2H record (W19, D17, L21), including two wins from the last three meetings (L1). If the Red and Whites are to keep that going, they’ll likely have to keep the back door shut as each of their last six home Ligue 1 victories have been accompanied by a clean sheet, while both sides scored on the day in just one of the last five league H2Hs.

Visiting Monaco would love to buck that trend and appear well placed to do so, as the 18 goals they scored in Ligue 1 this season can’t be matched by any other side in the division. After twice coming from behind to defeat Marseille 3-2 in their last round, it appears they may be starting to reap the rewards from narrowly missing UEFA action with their sixth-place finish last season.

While Adi Hütter’s men aren’t having any issues when moving the ball forward, it’s the defence that will be causing some concern. It’s a particular problem area for Monaco on the road, where they conceded 2+ goals in seven of their last eight Ligue 1 away matches (W2, D3, L3). That streak could come to an end here on the basis of having kept a clean sheet in each of their last four trips to Reims (W2, D2).

Players to watch: Marshall Munetsi is a man in form for Reims, directly contributing to three goals in his last two appearances (G1, A2). Meanwhile, Monaco’s Folarin Balogun faces Reims for the first time since his highly successful loan spell there last season, in which he scored 22 goals in 39 appearances for the club. He recovered from his two penalty misses in round 6 to score last week.

Hot stat: The home side on the day failed to win any of the last nine Ligue 1 H2Hs (D5, L4).
