RB Leipzig Bochum prediction 2023-10-07

RB Leipzig vs Bochum prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-10-06 13:30.
Starting the round in fifth, RB Leipzig welcome a struggling Bochum side to the RB Arena. Despite a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, the Red Bulls ought to be full of confidence as that was their only loss across their previous eight matches in all competitions (W6, D1). Manager Marco Rose accepted his side were second best in that contest against the European champions, but should still be satisfied with the start they’ve made this season, especially as their 13 points on the board betters their return at this stage in each of the last two Bundesliga campaigns.

In fact, it matches the total they accumulated after six rounds in the 2020/21 season, one in which they went on to achieve their joint highest-ever Bundesliga finish (2nd). Confidence that they can build on that against Bochum should be high, especially given they’ve secured wins ‘to nil’ in each of their three league games against sides below them in the table ahead of this round.

Coincidentally, each of the last five H2Hs between these two have also produced a winner where one side failed to score, although it’s often been Bochum on the losing end (W1, L4). Their only success did come earlier this year (1-0) but that was at home, while their last visit here to RB Arena ended in a 4-0 loss. And having already conceded a league-high 19 goals after their opening six winless rounds (D3, L3), fears of a repeat will be prevalent.

Three of those goals came last weekend at home to Borussia Mönchengladbach in a 3-1 defeat that Bochum manager Thomas Letsch described as “catastrophic”. All three of their league losses this season have now been by a multi-goal margin, contributing to the joint second-worst goal difference across Europe’s big five leagues (-14) coming into this weekend’s action.

Key battle: Leipzig’s Timo Werner scored in his last league appearance and grabbed a double in last season's home H2H victory. One of the few defenders who can hold his head up high at Bochum is Erhan Maơović, who had won more tackles (16) than any other Bundesliga player ahead of the round and scored the winner when these sides met in March.

Hot stat: Across the last four H2Hs, seven of the nine goals scored came after half-time.
