Brest Toulouse prediction 2023-10-08

Brest vs Toulouse prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-10-07 13:00.
High-flying Brest have enjoyed a phenomenal start to the campaign, losing just one of their opening seven in Ligue 1 and earning 14 points (W4, D2), their highest-ever tally at this stage in a season. For a club who have never finished higher than 11th since the French top tier was rebranded in 2002, this truly is unchartered territory as they sit jointly top of the table ahead of the round.

Perhaps understandably given their previous lowly finishes, Eric Roy’s side had been dubbed relegation candidates pre-season, though they probably aren’t now, as never before in over 250 instances has a side with 14 points from their first seven top-flight games experienced the drop. They don’t look likely to become unwanted history makers, having won seven of their last nine home games in Ligue 1 (D1, L1), as many as they’d managed in the previous 25 (D6, L12).

Toulouse though will head to the Stade Francis-Le Blé with the knowledge that they are amongst Brest’s most formidable foes. Le Téfécé have lost just three of their previous 26 Ligue 1 clashes with Sunday’s opponents, and of the sides who Brest have faced ten times or more in the French top-flight, only giants PSG have a better H2H record.

Having won 3-0 against Metz last time out in the league, boss Carles MartĂnez Novell now has the chance to guide the club to back-to-back Ligue 1 victories in the same season for the first time since February. Buoyed by a midweek win against Austrian outfit LASK in the UEFA Europa League, Toulouse will hope that can kick them on to improve upon a run of four draws in seven away from home against Brest in Ligue 1 (W2, L1).

Players to watch: Brest’s Romain Del Castillo has created the most clear-cut chances in Ligue 1 so far this season (five), but has just two league assists to his name this term. Thijs Dallinga has stepped up for Toulouse in recent weeks, assisting or scoring once in each of their last three games across all competitions. A majority 13 of his 20 goals for Toulouse so far have come in the first half.

Hot stat: Brest have lost just one of their last nine home games including the back end of last season (W7, D1), a run which started with victory over Toulouse in the most recent H2H.
