Darmstadt RB Leipzig prediction 2023-10-21

Darmstadt vs RB Leipzig prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-10-20 13:30.
The recent international break arguably came at the wrong time for Bundesliga newcomers Darmstadt, who defibrillated their failing Bundesliga season by collecting six of their seven points for this season with a pair of wins prior to the pause. The 2-1 win over Augsburg sealed their first set of consecutive victories in the top flight since a run of three wins in their 2016/17 relegation campaign.

Completing another three win streak against one of the Bundesliga’s top sides in RB Leipzig will be no mean feat, not least because they’ve lost five of the six all-time H2Hs (W1, L5), albeit with the most recent coming seven seasons ago. Any bounce back from that terrible form will likely need a hatful of Darmstadt goals as they’ve failed to keep clean sheets in ten of their last 11 top-flight home games (W5, D1, L5), whilst they didn’t pick up a single point when trailing at any stage.

In stark contrast to their hosts, the international break was probably a relief for Leipzig after they failed to win three straight competitive games preceding it (D2, L1). In their defence, one of those games was a more than respectable draw against perennial champions Bayern Munich, a result which forms part of a seven-game unbeaten run of domestic games (W5, D2).

Hopes should be high about the Red Bulls charging to an away win having emerged victorious in five of their last seven Bundesliga road trips (W5, L2), including four wins ‘to nil’ during that sequence. In fact, none of Leipzig’s last ten top-flight road trips have ended level, and the side scoring first went on to win nine of those games, with Leipzig’s stunning 3-1 comeback win at Bayern in May the only exception.

Players to watch: Each of Darmstadt’s seven points this season have been picked up in games when 34 year-old midfielder Tobias Kempe has made a goal contribution (G2, A1). Similarly influential for Leipzig, Loïs Openda has had a hand in their only three goals across their last three games (G2, A1), and more recently helped his national team Belgium to book a place at Germany’s Euro 2024 during the break.

Hot stat: Leipzig won all four of their league games against newly promoted sides last season, with both teams scoring in each game.
