Valencia vs Cadiz CF prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-10-22 19:00.
Two clubs with indifferent returns of late will hope the international break was an opportunity to reset their stalling La Liga (LL) campaigns. Despite their presence in the top half of the standings heading into this round, Valencia were closer to the relegation zone than the top four by way of points, having already suffered disappointing results to the likes of AlmerĂa (D 2-2), AlavĂ©s (L 1-0) and Mallorca (D 1-1), all on their travels.
Things could still be better at home too, after a surprise 3-0 victory over Atlético was sandwiched by two losses as pre-match favourites, both of which saw Valencia trail at half-time. A further test of their progress will be whether they can avoid repeating the mistake of a 1-0 loss last LL season at home to upcoming opponents Cádiz, a game in which they also trailed at the break.
Cádiz have taken points home from all three trips to Valencia (W1, D2) since returning to the top flight, but it is likely that stretching their three-point gap to the drop zone at the start of the round will be the greater incentive. Sergio’s side are on a five-game winless run (D2, L3) after losing to Girona, but the fact all five matches were against clubs going into the weekend higher than Valencia in the standings does serve as a mitigating factor.
Their three league assignments after this clash are all against sides currently ranked beneath Valencia, and whilst football is not that simple, the next few weeks could offer Cádiz some relief. Keeping in mind the aforementioned H2H history, perhaps this is the moment that Sergio’s charges pick up their first away victory of the LL season, as in their previous trip, they somehow surrendered a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 against Atlético Madrid.
Players to watch: Valencia could benefit from a revival from 20-year-old Javi Guerra, who has an unbeaten record (W2, D1) when scoring this LL season. Former Valencia midfielder Ruben Sobrino is yet to be directly involved in a goal for Cádiz this LL season, but after delivering assists in each of his last two appearances against his previous club, he may finally get involved here.
Hot stat: All six LL H2Hs since Cádiz’s return in 2020/21 were either drawn or decided by a single-goal margin.
