Clermont Nice prediction 2023-10-27

Clermont vs Nice prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-10-26 19:00.
It took over two months before Clermont finally celebrated their first win of the 2023/24 Ligue 1 season, beating Lyon 2-1 on Sunday, and afterwards coach Pascal Gastien described the display as a "reference” for their future performances. They still await a decision from the league as to what will happen in respect of their abandoned game against Montpellier before the international break, but for now, the Lancers find themselves four points adrift of safety ahead of this round (W1, D2, L5).

Clermont won their final five home league games in 2022/23, but that formidable home form has evaporated this season and they have claimed only one point in four outings (D1, L3) at Stade Gabriel-Montpied. A lack of quality in the final third has been a huge factor behind that, with the hosts failing to score in their previous three home matches.

Ending that streak against Nice won’t be easy, as following their recent 1-0 victory in the Derby de la Cîte d'Azur against Marseille, they come into the weekend boasting the joint-highest clean sheet percentage (67%) across the five major traditional European leagues. It’s fair to say that coach Francesco Farioli, who arrived in June from Alanyaspor, is experiencing a dream start as his Nice team are the only side still undefeated in Ligue 1 (W5, D4).

Playing away from home shouldn’t faze Farioli’s men either as Nice have lost just three of their 15 Ligue 1 road trips this calendar year (W8, D4), emerging victorious in each of the previous three. They will hope to build on that record here while simultaneously ending a three-game losing streak against Clermont.

Players to watch: Clermont’s Muhammed Cham could have an early impact on the match, having opened the scoring before half-time last weekend, just like in the previous H2H in April. For the visitors, Nice will hope Hicham Boudaoui can find the net, after leading his team to a win ‘to-nil’ in his last five away goalscoring appearances!

Hot stat: Since the beginning of last season, Nice have lost just one of their eight Ligue 1 away games that saw them start as favourites (W3, D4).
