Hull Preston prediction 2023-10-28

Hull vs Preston prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-10-27 14:00.
After going four games without a victory (D2, L2), Hull City returned to winning ways on Wednesday evening as they spoiled Wayne Rooney’s first home game as Birmingham City manager and returned north with a 2-0 victory. The win sees the Tigers come into this round of fixtures in eighth place, but level on points with West Brom in the final play-off place, and only two points behind their opponents in this game, Preston North End, in fourth.

However, the sight of the Lillywhites travelling east along the M62 will strike some fear into the hosts who have beaten them only once in the last five H2Hs (D2, L2) at the MKM Stadium. A return home doesn’t inspire much confidence in improving that record as Liam Rosenior’s side have only beaten bottom of the table Sheffield Wednesday here this season, with a 95th-minute Southampton winner last Saturday condemning them to their fifth successive home game without a win (D4, L1).

A late Southampton goal will have also given North End manager Ryan Lowe sleepless nights in the second half of this week after a 96th-minute equaliser on Wednesday evening stopped Preston from ending a five match winless streak (D3, L2). This poor run of form has seen North End drop from the summit of the division and means that ahead of this game they are now 14 points behind Leicester at the top.

It’s not all bad news for Lowe, as his team come into this match looking to extend their unbeaten run to three games. After Wednesday’s match he admitted that his side “should have seen the game out by that stage” and game management may well be the theme of training ahead of Saturday, with North End surrendering leads in their last two matches.

Players to watch: Liam Delap has scored in both of Hull City’s last two games, with the Manchester City loanee finding the net in the first half of both matches. He was also interestingly on loan at Preston in the second half of last season. Mads Frøkjær-Jensen drew a blank against Southampton but the Dane had scored Preston’s first goal in each of the previous two games.

Hot stat: Hull City have scored more than one goal only once in their last eleven home league games.
