RB Leipzig FC Koln prediction 2023-10-28

RB Leipzig vs FC Koln prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-10-27 16:30.
A 3-1 UEFA Champions League victory over Red Star Belgrade in midweek sets RB Leipzig up nicely for a return to the Bundesliga where they bid to keep alive their seven-match unbeaten league run (W5, D2). It’s an even longer run when looking at just Bundesliga home games for Marco Rose’s side (W6, D2), but with the last two games in that eight-game run accounting for both draws, Leipzig risk going three home league games without a win for the first time since April 2021.

While the visit of lowly Cologne may seem timely in that case, a somewhat indifferent top-flight home H2H record (W3, D2, L1) suggests it may not be that straightforward to avoid that unwanted record here. Leipzig boss Marco Rose holds a marginally better personal record against Cologne (W4, D2, L1), and his last managerial H2H win eerily came almost exactly two years ago to the day of this clash, a 2-0 home win whilst in charge of Dortmund on 30th October 2021.

Cologne won’t be in the mood to let any historical omens dampen their enthusiasm, as they come into this clash having won their first league game of the season last time out. A 3-1 Rhine derby win against Borussia Mönchengladbach wasn’t enough to move them out of the Bundesliga’s bottom three, but it was enough to bring boss Steffen Baumgart to tears in the aftermath!

Those tears of joy may turn to tears of despair here as it’s been a far more miserable existence on the road for Cologne, who are amongst a select group of five sides yet to win away in Bundesliga action this term (D1, L3) ahead of the round. A large chunk of the blame can certainly be attributed to the fact they’ve conceded after the hour mark in each of those games, and leaking goals has been a long standing issue on the road, with Cologne’s last away league shutout coming in March.

Players to watch: LoĂŻs Openda scored the fastest goal of the Bundesliga season last weekend, and he likes to start fast with his last three league scoring appearances seeing him net on or before the 20th minute. Florian Kainz was at the double for Cologne last weekend, with his last four goals coming from the penalty spot.

Hot stat: Four of the last six Bundesliga H2Hs were goalless at the break.
