Lille Monaco prediction 2023-10-29

Lille vs Monaco prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-10-28 14:00.
A solid start to the season continues to go from strength to strength for Lille, who now find themselves unbeaten in five matches in all competitions (W3, D2). A 1-0 victory over Brest last weekend lifted the Mastiffs into Ligue 1’s top-four, and Paulo Fonseca’s men backed up that win by beating Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday, recovering from a goal down to seize control of Group A with the 2-1 win.

Both of those matches were at home, and Lille will be overjoyed to be the hosts for a third game running as they’ve lost just once in the league at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy since August 2022 (W15, D4). Extending that record could go some way to bridging the three-point gap between themselves and the top three ahead of the round, and Fonseca will look to lean on his attack to make that happen, as the Mastiffs are one of just two sides to score in all nine of their Ligue 1 matches this season.

Table-topping Monaco have enjoyed this fixture in recent years, winning four of the last six league trips to Lille, twice scoring exactly four goals in that sequence. Adi Hütter’s men will be full of confidence that they can add to that impressive return, as his side recovered from a shock defeat to Nice by winning three successive matches, the latest of which saw the Monégasques come from behind to beat Metz 2-1.

That victory did continue an alarming trend for the league leaders, as they’ve conceded a league-high six times in the first 15 minutes of matches this term. Consequently, Monaco have conceded first in six of their nine Ligue 1 fixtures in the campaign so far (W6, D2, L1), placing extra emphasis on Hütter’s attack which has outscored every other side in the division ahead of the round (23).

Key battle: Lille’s matchwinner in midweek, RĂ©my Cabella has netted a joint career-high six goals against Monaco, including a brace in a 4-3 victory in last season’s corresponding fixture. Midfield rival Aleksandr Golovin also struck twice in his side’s victory last weekend – seven of his last eight goals have arrived before half-time.

Hot stat: Lille are yet to concede a Ligue 1 goal after half-time on home soil this term.
