Atl. Madrid Alaves prediction 2023-10-29

Atl. Madrid vs Alaves prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-10-28 20:00.
Atlético Madrid ended the previous La Liga (LL) round boasting not only the second-most potent attack with 23 goals scored (despite playing one less match than the majority of the competition), but also the second-most stubborn defence with just eight goals conceded. Those efforts have culminated in securing 22 points from their opening nine matches (W7, D1, L1), while another win here would see them achieve their greatest points haul after ten matches since their title-winning season a decade ago in 2013/14.

Despite the flurry of wins, Diego Simeone’s side hasn’t been immune to the odd lapse in concentration, illustrated once again when they needed to come from behind twice to salvage a 2-2 draw away to Celtic in their midweek Champions League fixture. They’ll be eager to return to the Metropolitano Stadium where they’ve won a remarkable 13 consecutive LL matches, just one shy of their all-time record for successive home LL wins.

A struggling Alavés side will attempt to deny Atlético that history, but having gone without victory in their last six matches (D3, L3), the odds are understandably heavily stacked against the visitors. Their nine-point tally after ten matches is identical to the same stage of their relegation-bound LL campaign of 2021/22, an ominous sign for manager Luis García who worked hard to get the club returned to the first division.

Unfortunately for the Madrid-born and raised AlavĂ©s boss, his team have been anything but their nickname of ‘the Glorious Ones’ when visiting his home city, going winless in their last eight LL visits to the Community of Madrid (D2, L6), failing to score in six of those matches. Exclusively to this matchup, their last win away to AtlĂ©tico was recorded more than 20 years ago in May 2003, with that being their only victory in 12 LL visits to their hosts (D2, L9).

Players to watch: Antoine Griezmann scored eight goals in his last seven games for Atlético, leaving him primed to add to six goal contributions from his last seven matches against Alavés (G3, A3). The away side might place their hopes in teenager Samu Omorodion, seeing as six of his last eight goals were recorded on the road.

Hot stat: All but two of AtlĂ©tico’s last 16 LL matches have seen the same half-time result replicated at full-time.
