Leeds Plymouth prediction 2023-11-11

Leeds vs Plymouth prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-11-10 15:00.
By claiming a huge 1-0 win away to Championship leaders Leicester City last time out, Leeds United continued their strong recent form as they look for an immediate return to the Premier League. The West Yorkshire side have now won five of their last six outings (L1) and sit third, albeit eight points behind second-placed Ipswich Town.

The Whites’ improvement has been particularly evident at Elland Road, as they have won four straight games on home soil, one more than they’d won in their previous 20 home league fixtures (W3, D10, L7). What could be their Achilles heel on this occasion however is their backline, with the victory at the King Power the first clean sheet that Daniel Farke’s men had enjoyed in five encounters.

That stat offers encouragement for visiting Plymouth Argyle then, especially as they have netted 2+ goals in each of their last three outings and are currently the joint-top scorers in the Championship (G26) outside the top two. Despite that attacking prowess, those three clashes all delivered different results (W1, D1, L1), as the Pilgrims also possess one of the division’s leakiest defences, with their league matches producing an average of 3.4 goals per game.

That could be Plymouth’s shortcoming yet again given Leeds’ resurgence of late and the fact that the Devon club haven’t won a H2H meeting on the road in ten attempts (D2, L8) since a 3-2 triumph in 1962 only serves to cast further doubt. There’s also the worrying trend that Steven Schumacher’s side are still winless in seven second-tier encounters on their travels in 2023/24 (D3, L4), an issue that needs addressing quickly if they are to stave off relegation this season.

Players to watch: Leeds’ Georginio Rutter has recorded eight goal contributions (G3, A5) across his last 12 league games, including scoring the winner at Leicester. Plymouth’s Morgan Whittaker meanwhile has enjoyed the jump up to the Championship this campaign, netting seven goals so far, but only one has come away from Home Park.

Hot stat: Both teams have scored in 67% of Plymouth’s league matches this season – the joint second-highest percentage in the division.
