Southampton West Brom prediction 2023-11-11

Southampton vs West Brom prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-11-10 15:00.
Two in-form sides occupying play-off places at the start of this round will go head-to-head when Southampton look to extend their unbeaten run to eight games (W5, D2). Late goals have been a prominent feature of this ongoing streak, with Russell Martin’s side scoring in the 93rd minute to secure a 1-0 win away at Millwall last weekend. It was the third time in their last four matches that they scored in stoppage time of the second half.

These late strikes lifted the Saints up to fourth place ahead of this weekend’s fixtures, despite only 11 (W3, D2, L2) of their 27 points coming at the St Mary’s Stadium. They are still yet to keep a clean sheet at home this Championship season, although they appear to be getting closer, having conceded only once in each of their last four such fixtures.

Similarly impressive, West Bromwich Albion (WBA) arrive on the south coast in good form of their own with only one defeat from their last ten (W5, D4) league games, including three consecutive wins by a two-goal margin. They beat play-off hopefuls Hull City 3-1 last weekend in the first of six matches against teams who started this round in the top ten, making this a very crucial period when it comes to asserting themselves as a team to be feared.

But getting past Southampton this weekend will require them to exorcise some H2H demons. WBA won only one of their last six away games against the Saints (D1, L4), losing their last two trips to St Mary’s without scoring. But their overall away form has picked up more recently with only one loss from their last six league outings (W2, D3), a huge improvement on the 11 prior league fixtures on the road which yielded eight defeats (W2, D1).

Players to watch: Southampton’s Adam Armstrong has recorded three goals and one assist from his last three appearances at St Mary’s and also laid on the injury time winner at The Den last weekend. Right-winger Grady Diangana has contributed directly to four (G2, A2) of West Brom’s last seven goals, including two second half assists last Saturday.

Hot streak: West Brom have not conceded the first goal in any of their last eight Championship matches (W5, D2, L1).
