Aston Villa Fulham prediction 2023-11-12

Aston Villa vs Fulham prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2023-11-11 14:00.
After a dramatic turnaround on Thursday against AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa Conference League to win 2-1, Aston Villa are looking to emulate the club’s history-makers of 1983 by recording their 13th home league victory in a row. Since losing 4-2 to Arsenal in February, Unai Emery’s men have scored 34 times in 12 successive Premier League (PL) wins at Villa Park, although incredibly, 20 of those goals have come in the last five fixtures in that sequence.

Although it’s raining goals, Emery will be slightly frustrated at his team’s inability to keep a clean sheet in their last four PL attempts on home turf – with all those conceded efforts coming after half-time. While Villa’s 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest on Sunday may have been slightly unexpected, the West Midlanders could still potentially break into the top four with three points against Fulham.

The west Londoners travel north having been one of Villa’s early victims during their current formidable streak as hosts, and Fulham are unlikely to feel too hopeful about ending a run of four consecutive away H2H losses. Marco Silva’s side have a fundamental issue with hitting the back of the net, something that was laid bare in their 1-0 reverse to Manchester United last weekend, with that the fifth time the Cottagers have drawn a PL blank this season – a joint league-high figure.

Silva will certainly take heart though from the fact that Fulham drew their last encounter on their travels against another European competitor in Brighton (1-1). They also earned a valuable point at both Arsenal and Crystal Palace this term, and a surprise win here would keep them level with their points tally after 12 games in 2022/23 (15). Coincidentally, they faced Villa on matchday 12 last campaign too, defeating them 3-0 to end Steven Gerrard’s reign!

Players to watch: Ollie Watkins completed the comeback against AZ to make it 11 goal contributions (G8, A3) in as many games for club and country. Looking to upstage him will be João Palhinha, who is Fulham’s joint-top scorer with two goals this season after netting in their last away league game, but is also just one yellow card away from a one-match ban.

Hot stat: Villa have scored the opener inside 30 minutes in eight of their last nine PL home matches.
