Denmark Slovenia prediction 2023-11-17

Denmark vs Slovenia prediction: EUROPE: Euro – Qualification betting tips on match 2023-11-16 19:45.
Group H of Euro 2024 qualification is reaching a thrilling climax and sees its top two sides meet in Copenhagen, as Denmark face Slovenia with both sides locked on 19 points. The mission here for the Danes is simple – win and a spot at Euro 2024 is theirs – and on the back of seven successive home wins in Euro qualifiers, Denmark should be confident of booking their tickets to Germany.

In fact, you’d have to go back to 2014 for the last time Denmark lost at home in a Euro qualifier (W8, D3) and the smart money would go on them extending that run against a Slovenia side they’ve never lost an international against (W4, D1). They’ll be taking nothing for granted here, especially after watching their top-scorer from qualification so far, Rasmus Højlund, limp off with a hamstring injury in Manchester United’s game at the weekend.

Like Denmark, Slovenia’s scenario is equally as straightforward as they too know a win will see them qualify for the finals, just their second as an independent nation after their last appearance in 2000, although losing or drawing could set up a winner-takes-all clash in their final game against Kazakhstan. The Slovenians should make the trip to Scandinavia full of confidence at least, having won their last three Euro qualifiers ‘to nil’, which includes their last two away trips, albeit they were both against sides outside of FIFA’s top-70.

That makes a visit to #19-ranked Denmark all the more daunting, not least because Slovenia have never won a Euro qualification away game against a nation currently ranked higher than #59! They’ll hope to end that run here and secure qualification, and history would suggest one team will secure their spot at next summer’s showpiece event given just one of Slovenia’s 17 away Euro qualifiers ended level (W7, L9).

Players to watch: On a hot streak at home, Jonas Wind has scored between the 35th and 50th minute in Denmark’s last three home Euro qualifiers. Slovenia’s Andraž Šporar was on target in the reverse fixture that ended 1-1, and three of his four Euro qualification scoring appearances saw him net the opener.

Hot stat: Ahead of November’s first round of internationals, only Gibraltar (six) have been shown fewer Euro qualifying yellow cards this cycle than Slovenia’s eight.
