Empoli Sassuolo prediction 2023-11-26

Empoli vs Sassuolo prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2023-11-25 14:00.
After starting their Serie A (SA) campaign with five consecutive losses, Empoli have staged an impressive revival, collecting ten points from their following seven games (W3, D1, L3) to move a point clear of the relegation zone ahead of the international break. The Azzurri beat Italian champions Napoli before the interruption, a fourth H2H victory in succession under the stewardship of Aurelio Andreazzoli, who’ll be looking to guide them to back-to-back SA wins for the first time this season as they welcome Sassuolo.

Only Salernitana (three) have collected fewer points at home than Empoli though (four), with their six league matches at the Stadio Carlo Castellani seeing them score just once! Only one of those defeats has come by a margin of more than two goals, so the hosts may be confident of putting some points on the board in front of their home fans considering they’ve scored in seven consecutive league H2Hs.

That quest looks all the easier considering that visitors Sassuolo are one of just two sides in Italy’s top-flight yet to keep a clean sheet! Such a porous defence has led to the Neroverdi failing to win any of their previous six SA matches (D3, L3), a run that’s seen them plummet down the table and only three points clear of safety ahead of the round.

Alessio Dionisi’s men at least showed their fighting spirit to rescue a draw from 2-0 behind against Salernitana before the break. The same kind of resilience may need to be on offer here given Sassuolo’s woeful away record in SA this term (W1, D1, L3), but as none of the previous 12 top-flight H2Hs have ended level (SAS: W7, L5)), it certainly appears likely that there’ll be a winner here.

Players to watch: Francesco Caputo has scored two goals in his last four league games for Empoli, while he’s also netted twice in four previous personal H2Hs. Domenico Berardi can better that return though, directly contributing to 12 goals across nine meetings with the Azzurri in SA (G8, A4).

Hot stat: There has been a penalty awarded in six of the last nine competitive H2Hs.
