Ajax vs Vitesse prediction: NETHERLANDS: Eredivisie betting tips on match 2023-11-25 20:00.
Two clubs that would have hoped and expected to be much higher in the standings at this stage of the season are Ajax Amsterdam and Vitesse Arnhem. The Amsterdam club did not finish in the top two last season for the first time in 13 years and are currently still very far away from the highest places. Ajax enters this round with only one-third of the points of leader PSV Eindhoven and a negative goal difference of -3, although the team from the capital still has the remainder of a game against RKC to come.
An upward spiral seemed to have begun under John van 't Schip, but just before the international break the team did not get further than a 2-2 draw at newcomer Almere City. Ajax has also not been able to win two of their last three matches against today’s opponent, but are nonetheless undefeated in their last 12 matches with Vitesse. Their scoring has been improving lately, as Ajax has done so at least twice in their last five competitive matches.
Their 3-1 home defeat against SC Heerenveen in the previous round meant the end of Phillip Cocu’s stint at Vitesse. Edward Sturing will do the honours in Arnhem until the winter break and this is not the first time. The man who has played more than 250 matches for the club as a player is now caretaker coach for the seventh time has earned the nickname ‘Edje-interim’. Clubman Sturing will have to get his team out of last place as quickly as possible and that could be a lot easier than it sounds.
After all, the differences are still very small at the bottom and with a win they could be equal in points with number 14 position club and eternal rivals NEC. With eight defeats in their last 11 competitive matches, it is not very likely that Sturing will succeed in completely changing course this weekend. In any case, he will have to make do without captain and club top scorer Marco van Ginkel, who was sent off against Heerenveen.
Players to watch: Chuba Akpom has scored a total of four times in his last three Eredivisie appearances, whilst Million Manhoef was accurate in three of his last six official matches.
Hot stat: Vitesse Arnhem opened the scoring only three times this league season (W1, L2).
