Breidablik vs Maccabi Tel Aviv prediction: EUROPE: Europa Conference League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2023-11-29 20:00.
The westernmost side in this year’s UEFA Conference League (UECL) group stage, Breiðablik, host the southernmost team, Maccabi Tel Aviv, on Thursday evening in Reykjavik. For Blikar, it has been a miserable debut season in a group stage of a UEFA competition, as they have already been eliminated having lost all four matches, conceding 12 goals along the way, the joint-highest number of any team during this stage of the tournament.
The Icelandic side have conceded the first goal in all four of their Group B matches, although they did respond well in their last home game when they went 2-1 up against Gent, only to concede two second half goals and lose 3-2. The same scoreline adorned their trip to Tel Aviv for the reverse fixture, leaving Breiðablik hoping for a better start this time around after they found themselves 3-0 down after only 32 minutes in that game!
Coming out of the traps strongly has been a feature of Maccabi Tel Aviv in this group, with the Yellows scoring the opening three goals in three of their four matches in the UECL group stage this term. Holding onto those leads has often looked precarious though, with Robbie Keane’s men conceding twice after racing into a 3-0 lead on two occasions, including their weekend victory over Zorya Luhansk.
Maccabi are currently only one point from the top of the table, five points clear of Zorya in third, and look set to have a ‘winner takes all’ clash with Gent, the group leaders, in mid-December to decide who takes top spot. Keane’s side will guarantee a top-two finish with a draw here, and they will travel north full of confidence as they look to maintain their impressive 100% record against Icelandic opposition (W5).
Players to watch: Striker Jason Daði Svanþórsson scored both of Breiðablik’s goals before half-time during their home defeat against Gent earlier this month and he also contributed a first-half assist in the reverse fixture in Tel Aviv. The visitors have Dor Peretz in a rich vein of form in the UECL, with the midfielder scoring twice, including the final two goals for his side in both of Maccabi’s last two games.
Hot stat: Nine of the 12 goals conceded by Breiðablik during this UECL group stage have come in the first half of matches.
