Swansea Huddersfield prediction 2023-12-02

Swansea vs Huddersfield prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-12-01 15:00.
After a 3-1 defeat at Leeds on Wednesday night, Swansea boss Michael Duff remained upbeat about his side’s potential, insisting they’d “been undone by Premier League quality.” However, that result brought a damaging fourth defeat in seven for the Swans (W1, D2), who are now at risk of being embroiled in the battle at the bottom rather than the race for the top-six they’d envisaged.

Jamie Paterson opened the scoring for Duff’s men within 60 seconds of kick-off at Elland Road, with the Welsh outfit scoring first for the 11th time in 18 league games. Worryingly, they’ve only gone on to win just four of those 11 (D2, L5), with their five defeats after scoring first the outright most in the Championship.

This weekend’s opponents Huddersfield occupy the spot directly above the relegation zone, but could leapfrog Swansea with a win in South Wales. Courtesy of a 2-1 victory against Sunderland in midweek, Darren Moore’s men left the North East with maximum returns that took their away points tally for the campaign to nine from nine games, just one less than the ten points they’ve accrued on home soil.

Back-to-back wins is a feat only achieved once so far this season by Town, and in order to make that twice, they’ll need to improve upon a pretty drab H2H record against the Swans. Huddersfield have lost four of their last five at the Swansea.com Stadium (W1), with their only victory behind closed doors during the COVID-19 Pandemic, losing both of their previous visits 1-0.

Players to watch: Jerry Yates is the Swans’ talisman and netted against Huddersfield in Blackpool colours during the 2021/22 campaign. Each of his scoring games this season saw Swansea avoid defeat (W2, D3). Defender Michał Helik has never scored against or beaten Swansea in his career (D2, L5), but he has been a thorn for opposition defences this season, with his five goals making him Huddersfield’s top scorer.

Hot streak: Swansea have won just two of their last eight home games held on a Saturday (D3, L3), though one of those wins was against Huddersfield in April!
