Bayer Leverkusen Dortmund prediction 2023-12-03

Bayer Leverkusen vs Dortmund prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-12-02 16:30.
Matches in Germany’s top-flight don’t come much bigger than this, as Xabi Alonso’s league leading Bayer Leverkusen look to extend their unbeaten run in the competition to 13 matches to start this campaign. With 11 wins across their opening 12 outings (D1), this is already the joint-best start to a Bundesliga season by any side at this stage, and the hosts will look to continue making history here by defeating Borussia Dortmund to win their opening seven home top-flight league fixtures for the first ever time.

Leverkusen’s success has been aided at both ends of the field, as they head into this latest matchday both as the league’s second topscorers (G37), but also with the competition's second-best defence who have conceded just ten goals. It’s that backline who will have to be at their very best again here to help deliver another win, as Die Werkself haven’t kept a clean sheet in their past 13 Bundesliga H2Hs – their longest such run against any side.

That’ll be music to the ears of the visiting Dortmund faithful who saw their side become the first team in Bundesliga history to turn around a two-goal deficit inside the first half and then go on to win in their 4-2 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend. The visitors followed that up with an impressive 3-1 win away to AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League in midweek, as the German side qualified from the competition’s ‘group of death’ with a game to spare.

Those two wins form part of a run that has seen Edin Terzic’s side lose just twice across their 13 prior competitive outings (W9, D2), and they’ll be buoyed further by the fact that they were the only side to beat Leverkusen twice without reply last season. Since December 2019 though, Dortmund have lost all six of their Bundesliga matches against the side who were top of the table, a streak they’ll have to snap here to progress up the standings.

Players to watch: Jonas Hofmann has seven goals across all competitions this season, six of which arrived after the break, but he’s only ever scored once across 17 prior H2Hs. Former Leverkusen and current Dortmund star Julian Brandt will be looking to add to his tally of six goals this season here, his last four coming in the second half.

Hot stat: Before last season’s meetings that both featured two or fewer goals, the nine prior H2Hs had seen over 2.5 goals scored.
