Fiorentina Salernitana prediction 2023-12-03

Fiorentina vs Salernitana prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2023-12-02 14:00.
Fiorentina booked qualification for the UEFA Europa Conference League knockouts with a 2-1 win over Genk on Thursday, but still need to quickly improve their domestic fortunes. Four defeats across their last five Serie A (SA) matches (W1) erased the positives of a five-game unbeaten run prior (W4, D1), and even though they start this matchday just a point outside the top-five, they could potentially drop outside the top-ten with another defeat.

With league results at Stadio Artemio Franchi being indifferent for Fiorentina (W3, L2) since September, you never quite know which version of La Viola will turn up, but this could be their best chance yet to regain some much needed momentum. That’s because the hosts have won each of their five top-flight home H2Hs against Salernitana and with three of those coming by a 4-0 scoreline, the home fans could be in for a treat.

Basement club Salernitana could have a say though, as they are targeting consecutive SA wins for the first time since October 2022 after producing a stunning 2-1 comeback win over Lazio last Saturday. That victory finally ended their prior 13-game winless run (D5, L8) which was their worst in top-flight history, so confidence should be high in the away camp.

If they want to extend their three-season top-flight stay, Salernitana need to start improving their away form quickly. So far, they’ve taken just two points on the road this season from a possible 18 (D2, L4) which is testament to their struggles and raises doubts over their ability to avoid defeat in their eighth away competitive H2H. Focus firmly remains on their poor scoring record in particular, as each of their four away defeats this season, along with four of the five away top-flight H2H defeats, have all come ‘to nil.’

Players to watch: Fiorentina’s M'Bala Nzola has recorded two goal contributions across his last three competitive games (G1, A1) and has two goals in six previous H2Hs. His contribution could be trumped by Antonio Candreva, who scored Salernitana’s winner against Lazio last weekend and could turn provider here, considering his personal record of 12 assists across 24 SA H2Hs.

Hot stat: A penalty has been awarded in five of Fiorentina’s last six matches across all competitions.
