Wolves Burnley prediction 2023-12-05

Wolves vs Burnley prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2023-12-04 19:30.
A fairly comfortable eight points clear of the drop zone, Wolves won’t be too worried at present about the relegation dogfight, but just one win in five (D1, L3) is certainly a concern and something they’ll need to address soon. They’ll be glad to return to Molineux here given those three defeats all came on the road, the most recent of which was at Arsenal at the weekend (2-1), with boss Gary O’Neil again left questioning the officiating.

Amidst a string of questionable decisions that have gone against their side, Wolves fans plan to protest against the standards of the Premier League’s (PL) match officials at Molineux over the coming weeks. There’s still the small matter of the football at hand, where Wolves will be hoping to snap a seven-match winless PL streak against Burnley (D3, L4) – a side O’Neil lost against 4-2 last season whilst in charge of Bournemouth.

Going into the weekend as the PL’s record holders for the most successive home defeats to open a campaign (seven), never in their wildest dreams did Burnley think they’d dispatch Sheffield United 5-0. Victory was a huge pressure reliever for boss Vincent Kompany, but given the Clarets’ last PL win was followed by a run of six successive league defeats, he still has plenty of work to do in their battle to beat the drop.

They at least have solid foundations to build upon now, and also a first clean sheet of the PL season, something they may hope to follow up here against a Wolves’ side they’ve amassed three successive shutouts against. And confidence is sure to snowball knowing this is a midweek fixture too, as Burnley haven’t been defeated in their last 17 midweek league games (Tuesday – Thursday: W9, D8).

Players to watch: Both Wolves’ Matheus Cunha and Burnley’s Jay Rodriguez have scored in back-to-back PL games. While Cunha has had to wait until the second half to net three of his four PL goals this season, Rodriguez was on hand to net the quickest goal of the PL season against Sheffield United at the weekend (15.8 seconds).

Hot stat: Wolves are winless in their last five PL games against newly-promoted sides (D3, L2).
