Getafe vs Valencia prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-12-07 20:00.
Getafe had a night to forget in Gran Canaria as their unbeaten run in La Liga (LL) came to an end at eight games (W2, D6), and they lost ground on the European placings as a consequence. Head coach José Bordalás conceded that the sending off of Omar Alderete shortly after half-time hindered their gameplan, as their 2-0 loss to Las Palmas saw them fall below the Canary Islands-based club to end the round in tenth.
They’re level not only on points with fellow mid-table club Valencia, but even on both the goals for and against counts, which leaves them at risk of regressing even further with a second consecutive defeat. That’s a fate yet to befall them this season, thanks mostly to their proud record of not losing at home this LL season (W4, D3), with all four wins coming against opponents ranked outside the top-seven.
Valencia also suffered frustration in the last round, losing in spite of opening the scoring for the first time this LL season when they were overcome away to high-flying Girona (L 2-1). Manager Rubén Baraja was “frustrated” not with the effort but rather simply with the lack of reward for it, putting the loss down to some fatigue and opposition brilliance.
Despite collecting just one point from their last three LL games, Baraja insists his team are still “doing things right”. More will probably need to be done on the road to maintain a position around the top-half throughout December, especially against clubs not immediately in the hunt for European football. Valencia’s mixed W1, D2, L1 LL record away to clubs beneath them at the start of this round, whilst inconsistent, does at least keep them in the hunt for more points here.
Players to watch: Getafe striker Borja Mayoral delivered the only goal of their home win over Valencia last season and has scored in three consecutive home LL appearances. Similarly, Hugo Duro was on the scoresheet after the break in each of Valencia’s last three LL away trips, whilst he also scored in their 2022/23 win at home to Getafe.
Hot streak: The visiting side on the day has failed to win any of the last 11 H2Hs in all competitions (D4, L7).
