Huddersfield Bristol City prediction 2023-12-09

Huddersfield vs Bristol City prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-12-08 15:00.
Huddersfield led for more than 90 minutes last weekend at Swansea, but a 94th minute leveller denied them a precious three points on the road (D 1-1). Despite the inevitable disappointment, boss Darren Moore – who has been publicly backed by new Town owner Kevin Nagle – insists his side are “heading in the right direction” as they bid to beat the drop.

A three-match unbeaten run (W1, D2) since the last international break points towards the fact he may well be correct in saying that, but having struggled to turn draws into wins in recent weeks, the Terriers remain precariously just four points above the relegation zone. Stretching that gap against Bristol City will require Town to do something they haven’t done yet this season – win a home league game against a side starting this round above them in the table (D4, L3).

Only five points better off, Bristol City themselves could do with a festive pick-me-up having conceded in the 95th minute to lose 2-1 on home soil to Norwich last weekend, their second successive defeat. Adam Idah’s late strike was the sixth goal conceded this season by the Robins in the last ten minutes of a game, and even though only two of those came on the road, that’s something that will still concern recently-appointed coach Liam Manning.

“We have to get better” was the verdict delivered by Manning after defeat against Norwich, with the new Robins boss overseeing just one win under his management (D1, L2). A visit to the John Smith’s Stadium perhaps isn’t timely then, as three defeats from Bristol City’s last five visits (W1, D1) hints at yet more misery for Manning.

Players to watch: Veteran Huddersfield striker Danny Ward has three goals and four assists to his name against Bristol City, netting home and away against Saturday’s opponents in the 2021/22 season! Robins defender Kal Naismith was booked home and away against the Terriers in play-off action at the end of the same campaign in action for Luton.

Hot stat: Bristol City’s away league games this term have averaged a league-low 0.56 first-half goals per game.
