Cardiff Millwall prediction 2023-12-09

Cardiff vs Millwall prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-12-08 15:00.
After they became the 11th consecutive team to drop Championship points to Southampton with a 2-0 away loss, Cardiff City will hope to continue another streak by condemning Millwall to a fourth straight league game without victory. Millwall’s own fortunes will be the last thing on Cardiff’s mind as they continue to pursue a top-six position, from which they started this round just three points behind after three losses from their last four league outings (W1).

But there’s some remarkable congestion in the top half of the standings, so making the most of opportunities such as hosting out-of-form clubs cannot be squandered. The Welsh club have, for the most part, capitalised on these particular matches by winning five of seven Championship games (L2) at home to clubs starting this weekend beneath them in the standings.

That makes ominous reading for Millwall, whose previous visit to Cardiff (W 1-0) saw them secure their first away win over the Bluebirds in nearly 18 years (D6, L3), but they’re not especially well placed to repeat the dose this time around. The jury is still out on new boss Joe Edwards after he again failed to secure his first home win in charge, though they came mightily close in a 1-1 draw to Sunderland last weekend, squandering a 1-0 lead late on.

Their relegation scrap will likely continue as long as they continue to forgo victories, and whilst it is pertinent on this particular occasion to point out that Millwall’s only two league wins since September 21st (D5, L5) both came away from home, the Lions have not beaten a club starting this round in the top half of the table alongside Cardiff since the opening matchday (D5, L4) at any venue!

Players to watch: Iké Ugbo remains Cardiff’s last goalscorer when his winner against Preston North End was his fourth game of the season to find the net. This will be Kevin Nisbet’s second attempt of the season to record three consecutive scoring appearances following his goals against Ipswich and Sunderland.

Hot stat: Between them, Cardiff and Millwall have a W1, D2, L14 record this Championship season when conceding the opening goal (18% win-draw rate).
