Lyon Toulouse prediction 2023-12-10

Lyon vs Toulouse prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-12-09 16:05.
Just days after sacking Fabio Grosso, Lyon were thrashed 3-0 by Marseille on Wednesday night, keeping them well adrift at the foot of the Ligue 1 standings (W1, D4, L9). “When we solve one problem, another appears,” lamented interim coach Pierre Sage, although there was at least some good news as French football’s financial watchdog reinstated permission for the club to recruit during January’s transfer window.

They could have around €65 million to spend, and if it were possible, they’d surely use some of that to buy some home points after failing to win any of their first seven home Ligue 1 fixtures (D3, L4) for the first time. The visit of Toulouse should offer some hope of a better result when considering that they’re unbeaten across the last 28 home league H2Hs (W21, D7).

But Toulouse are six points better off than Lyon, despite themselves having picked up just two Ligue 1 victories so far (D7, L5), their fewest wins after 14 games since 2015/16. While manager Carles Martínez Novell has them performing well on the continental front, his side are struggling domestically, and he won’t have appreciated striker Thijs Dallinga publicly criticising his decision to use him as a substitute against Lorient (D 1-1).

Ending the aforementioned lengthy hoodoo at Lyon would go some way to easing tensions within the squad, but the omens aren’t good given Le Téfécé couldn’t win any of their last seven away league fixtures (D3, L4), even failing to score in four of them. One must go back to December 2011 for the last time they scored more than once in an away H2H (L 3-2), so they have their work cut out to get back on track on the road.

Players to watch: With six goal contributions in his last four appearances in this H2H (G4, A2), Lyon will look to captain Alexandre Lacazette to lead by example again. Dallinga’s frustration with his boss is understandable seeing as he has scored Toulouse’s last four league goals – all of them after half-time!

Hot stat: Lyon are the only team to have started multiple Ligue 1 games as favourites this season without winning any of them (D3, L2).
