Stoke Swansea prediction 2023-12-12

Stoke vs Swansea prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-12-11 19:45.
Stoke City lost 1-0 to Sheffield Wednesday after conceding in injury time for a fourth successive Championship game (L4), prompting the end of manager Alex Neil’s 16-month spell in charge. He left the club precariously placed just two points above the bottom three after they lost four league games in a row for the first time since September 2019.

There’s little time to react before the Potters turn out again at home and while those recent late goals against have hurt them, they’ve actually scored as many times after the 75th minute as they’ve conceded here (three) in this Championship season. On a more positive note, Stoke have lost just one of their last 12 home H2Hs against Swansea City (W8, D3), a side also managerless.

After Swansea sacked former manager Michael Duff early last week, their decision yielded an instant response, as they beat Rotherham United 2-1 on Saturday to move five points clear of the relegation zone. As they seek their next permanent boss, with Tottenham coach Chris Davies reportedly their number one target, they’re trying to build upon losing only two of their last seven league fixtures (W2, D3).

Their aforementioned record here won’t inspire much confidence, yet the Swans have more recently won four of their last six league away fixtures (L2), scoring first in five of them. Only Leicester City and Southampton have netted the opener in more Championship away games than Swansea this term (seven), but their record when doing so (W3, D1, L3) suggests they might still need to prey on Stoke’s tendency to concede late goals to get a result!

Players to watch: Ryan Mmaee scored in Stoke’s penultimate home win in October, and all three of his strikes this term arrived before half-time. Given Stoke’s problems late on, Charlie Patino, who netted in both of Swansea’s last two games, could be dangerous as two of his three goals this term came after the 65th minute.

Hot stat: No team has scored fewer first-half Championship goals at home than Stoke (four) this term.
