Dortmund vs PSG prediction: EUROPE: Champions League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2023-12-12 20:00.
Borussia Dortmund (W3, D1, L1) have qualified for the UEFA Champions League (UCL) knockout stages with a game to spare, but will be pushing to avoid defeat against Paris Saint-Germain to win the group. They might even welcome returning to continental action as since their 3-1 win at AC Milan on matchday five, they haven’t won, most recently going down 3-2 to RB Leipzig (D1, L2)!
Edin Terzić’s side will hope being unbeaten in both previous home H2Hs (W1, D1) can inspire a return to winning ways, and encouragingly they’ve only ever lost two European home games against French opponents (W6, D3). They’ve scored at least twice in each of the last five of those (W3, L2) but could be pushed to do so again as they manage a lengthy injury list.
PSG broke Newcastle hearts on matchday five with a late equaliser (D 1-1), and Kylian Mbappé’s injury-time penalty kept their destiny in their own hands, although only a win here will guarantee their progress and win them the group regardless of the Newcastle-AC Milan result. As they’ve a clear lead in Ligue 1 after eight consecutive league wins, they should be heading to Germany in good spirits.
However, they’ve lost each of their last three UCL away fixtures, starting with their last visit to Germany when they were beaten 2-0 by Bayern Munich in March. As they bid to avoid losing four UCL away outings in a row for the first time, recent trips over the border haven’t been happy for the Parisians as they’ve only won one of their last six UCL away games against German opponents (D1, L4).
Players to watch: Niclas Füllkrug scored in injury time against Leipzig on Saturday, but his previous five goals for Dortmund this term arrived before the 40th minute. A more likely late threat could be PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani, whose last four club goals came after the 50th minute.
Hot streak: PSG have conceded in each of their last 15 UCL away games (W5, D3, L7).
