Augsburg Dortmund prediction 2023-12-16

Augsburg vs Dortmund prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-12-15 14:30.
Augsburg’s Bundesliga season so far tells a tale of two halves. They started the campaign with just one win in their opening seven league games (D2, L4), only to do a u-turn and lose just one of their most recent seven top-flight matches (W3, D3). That defeat did come in their last contest, a 2-0 loss away to Werder Bremen, stalling their ascension toward mid-table.

Jess Thorup’s men will be looking forward to returning to the WWK Arena, where they’ve lost just once this season (W3, D3). Their home form makes up 12 of their 17 points collected, which is an impressive return, and in fact, Fuggerstädter has only ever collected more points from their opening seven home games of a Bundesliga season twice before in 2013/14 and 2014/15.

Visiting them will be an elated Borussia Dortmund, who successfully secured top spot in their UEFA Champions League group after a 1-1 draw with PSG in midweek. Yet things have been a lot less rosy for BVB domestically, having recently been dumped out of the DFB-Pokal by Stuttgart while winning just one of their last six league assignments (D2, L3).

The latter has resulted in Edin Terzić’s men sliding down the standings to fifth place, potentially jeopardising their battle for the European spots. A game against Augsburg might help revive the BVB machine, since they’ve only ever lost three of the last 24 Bundesliga H2Hs (W15, D6), with their 61 goals scored in that time being the joint-most Augsburg have conceded against a single opponent in the competition.

Players to watch: Augsburg will be looking to Phillip Tietz to get them off to a strong start since his last five goals have all been netted before half-time, and served as his side’s opener. But Dortmund’s Julian Brandt will look to haunt Augsburg once again, having racked up seven goal contributions in his last nine appearances against them (G5, A2).

Hot stat: Before this weekend, Augsburg had conceded a league-high 18 goals in the first half.
