Darmstadt Wolfsburg prediction 2023-12-16

Darmstadt vs Wolfsburg prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-12-15 14:30.
After finally sealing promotion on the last day of the season last campaign, spirits would have been high as Darmstadt prepared themselves for another crack at the Bundesliga, but so far, it’s not gone well to say the least. A 3-2 loss to fellow promoted outfit Heidenheim last time out saw the Lilies record a seventh straight winless league outing (D2, L5), a streak which has aided their fall to the bottom of the German top-flight standings ahead of this latest matchday.

Their main problems have come in defence, as no side in the Bundesliga have conceded anywhere near as many goals as Darmstadt to date (37), a record that was not helped by a 8-0 loss to Bayern Munich in October and a return of just one clean sheet in 14 attempts. Confidence for the hosts may instead be found in the fact that they’ve at least found the back of the net in five of their seven home league outings, whilst their last H2H on home soil ended in a 3-1 victory!

Visiting Wolfsburg will be hoping to avoid a repeat of that loss as they enter this matchday in poor form of their own. After winning three of their opening four league fixtures this campaign, the Wolves have since struggled to put any sort of winning streak together as they enter this match having won just one of their prior eight Bundesliga outings (D1, L6).

That lack of consistency has manager Niko Kovač under a considerable amount of pressure, especially as the pre-season ambitions set by the board will likely have been to secure a return to European football for next season. They start this matchday sat seven points adrift of that prospect with goalscoring their problem area, as they’ve failed to score more than once in half of their Bundesliga matches so far.

Players to watch: Darmstadt’s Tobias Kempe has scored three league goals this campaign, with all three coming from the penalty spot. As for Wolfsburg, Jonas Wind has struck ten competitive club goals in 2023/24, four of which have come before the 15th minute.

Hot stat: Wolfsburg have scored just five Bundesliga goals in the second half of matches this season – the fewest of any side.
